I own a 1998 model 735il and i seem to experience a knocking sound coming from my front suspension when i go over a speed hump at low speed.

the problem seems to be progressing towards the worse. i used to get it only once a while, but now it happens almost everytime.

i have sent it back to the local dealership several times(since my car is still under warranty), and they told me that although they are able to recognise the problem, they are unable to rectify it. they have classified it as an "inherent trait" in the vehicle and insist that all e38s suffer from it.

just like to find out if any of you guys have experienced the same "inherent trait", and if you might know of a cure.

sort of, on my '97 740i. The knock occurs when applying the brakes and turning simultaneously. Some recent research indicatest that there's some sort of nylon liner that was an upgrade to a steering component that reduces/eliminates one of the knocking sounds. I surfaced it from alldata.com and their technical service bulletins.
