I have a 1984 733 with 212000mi. never rebuilt or replaced the motor. I use Mobil 1 every 4000mi.

I am beginning to look for my first BMW--probably a 740i. Many times the add will say that a new motor was installed around 70 to 90K miles--is this normal for BMW engines or just poor maintenance by the owners?? I have owned several MB's and I never seen or heard of this with MB (except for totally stupid owners)-if you can help me with this please respond.
