I do agree about the differential. That would make a huge difference.
I just bought my son a 2001 330i. I can tell you, and he agrees, that my 2000 740i Sport (with Dinan chip and CAI) would leave his car in the dust. It would not even be close at any speedstock . I do not belive that he could beat my wife's 2000 740iL.
My guess is that the 325 was not stock. Someone should look at the HP/Torque curves of both stock engine and see if the 325 is close to the 95 740.

a 95 740i with 20" rims and cut-off springs. Of course, your car is slower than a bone-stock 95 740i. Your larger rim's diameter increases the gearing ratio, resulting in slower accelaration. In addition, your cut-off springs, without the proper shocks, might have absorbed the momentum your car needs to accelarte. Installing Dinan chip and CAI won't do much to you. I'd advise you to buy the gearing set(differential gearing) that is used by 740i sport. That will make MUCH different for your purpose. Email me if you are interested, you know who I am.
