One thing I know that the 2000 model 7-series has a special tinted windshield that is supposed to reflex some of the sun (including UV ray) which is to minimize the heat and the harmful ray going into the cabin. If you notice, there should be a clear retangular area at the bottom of the middle of the windshield, which is not tinted. This is the area that is reserved for Toll-Road fast-track electronic payment sticker since the tinted windshield also prohibite the Toll-Road reader from reading the electronic sticker that you place inside your windshield (in case you have one). However, if the tinted layer really bother you, then yours may be defected, go to the dealer and look at other 2000 model 7-series to see if they look the same as yours. If they look different, then you definitely want to tell the dealer about your case. But I know that this tinted layer supposes to be a feature for the 2000 model year. I hope this info help.
