Driver skill has a lot to do with it.. if you have a 95 740iL as someone here has stated, you'd be hard pressed to beat a 325i with a manual regardless of what gear selection you choose. An accomplished driver behind a 5-speed can certainly do more than someone in a car that is 2-tons with an automatic...



I can't believe it, my car has 52,000 miles on it and it has been well taken care off. Last night after clubbing, a white 325i probably around the year 1993 because it still has a black under spoiler wanted to race me. I put my transmission at D and floor it. To my surprise, the 325i pulled away from me after 25 miles/hr fast, I mean REAL fast. Then we came upon a red light. This time I'm more ready and I put the transmission in 4 (which is the sport mode since there's an S writen on the instrument display. Then I floored it again, it was the same result. Oh my god, this big brother car has lost speed to the youngest brother car. Outrageous.

From now on, I'm gonna think about getting Dinan performance chip, air intake and exhaust and see if it helps a bit to move this big ass car faster.
