I suspect your windscreen is de-laminating. There is a clear plastic film glued between the two layers of glass. This was brought in during the 1980's and 1990's to prevent egress through the front windscreen in a crash.

Anyway it is possible that the layers are separating and moisture has got in, hence the haze and the distortion. I would expect this to get progressively worse and you will need a new windscreen.

This can also happen when a stone chip damages the screen outer layer and exposes the plastic film.
