Just saw a 2001 740il (manufactured in September) - has a new navigation system fills the width of the dash. Looks great. It's visible on the bmwusa site in the 740 gallery.

Spoke to local dealer and was told that new configuration is only on the 5 and x series, and not on all of them. Also told new 7 design won't be out until 2002.
