I keep thinking there must be some sort of clear epoxy or something that can fill in micro pits, but so far no joy.

Here in California, the freeways are full of *(*&^% hopper trucks which spew gravel and sand as they go down the roads. You can hear the micropits growing on your windshield as you go. I think there may be something about the 7's aerodynamics that makes it especially susceptible to this.
