Gimme a break! On several occasions we have left our '97 740i in the garage while on vacation for periods of a week or more. No problems with the battery. I'm not familiar with the y2k battery, but I'll assume that it is the same. Trickle charge a battery for 3 days of inactivity? That's nonsense--tell your service advisor to fix the darned thing!

Our new year 2000 740il battery went dead after being left in the garage for 6 days. BMW's roadside service came and started it. They said they get lots of calls on this problem. The dealer confirmed that the car needs to be trickle charged if it's not going to be driver for THREE days!

Can this be true?

Guess we need a new car. Anybody had this problem and gotten their money back? Do all BMW's have this problem? Thoughts?

Please email replies. Thanks,
--jim
