19" or 18" Rims? (archive)

I'm planning to upgrade the stock wheels of my 97 740iL. I've been told that going with 19" 8.5 front and 19" 9.5 rear is the way to go. Do the 19s make a dramatic difference from the 18s? Are they too overwhelming?
