Of course it will render the current 7 obsolete. By the very fact that they will not be making it any more.
Expect the new 7 to be as good as the MB S class but with a sportier ride (thats what the BMW rep told me) and the innovative new iDrive control system for the computers.
It looks very different on the outside so I would expect it to look very different on the inside too

Will the new 2002 E65 7 Series have a DVD based navigation system and in dash CD player or cabin mounted 6-disc CD changer together? I would hope so given the fact that the competitors have done so already and taken sales away from BMW in the process because of generally equal performance, luxury, safety and technology plus lower prices.
