I have had one or two problems which the dealer is fixing for me. One thing to remember is that the price is pretty dam good. US$18,400 for a 1995 with 60,000 miles on the clock from what I see here is a good price. Plus the cars ex Singapore are well maintained (there is basically only one dealer on the rock and you can get the service history as I did before I purchased) and they come with most of the extras. Mine included 18" M Parallel series mags and 18 45ZR 255 tyres with a truck load of meat on them. If you want to know how to get the service history, just email me. Did cost me a bean.
If you are in Auckland and have mechanical concerns see Guido Locker in Grey Lynn. Don't know outside of Auckland.
Just make sure the stereo doesn't click as you turn the volume up and down from the control or steering wheel control as this means it is not long for the world.
If you have a 1995 or newer don't loose the bloody key, it costs NZ$262.00 plus GST, ex Germany. If you only have one get a service key NZ$60.00 plus GST.
As for the Check Brake Light, Tail Light shit it is most likely as Mike H says, like mine, poor or dirty contacts.
Just to put the record straight. I am a first time BMW owner, electrically and mechanically astute but NOT an expert. These are my experiences offered in what I believe is the spirit of the forum.
Good luck and stay in touch.

Hi all, Hi Bob
I just purchased a 95 730iA E38 from a local dealer and I was told it was imported from Singapore (I live in New-Zealand). It doesn't have climate air and I was told that it should come Standard. I was also told that I shouldn't buy a BMW from Singapore, and of course, three days after I bought it. Now, I am worried that I made a big mistake and I am very scared that I have bought a Lemon and that I will have big problems in the future. Already, the boot has malfunctioned, the battery has run flat, the "Check Tail Light" and "Check brake light" signs always appear on the dash, the inner ceiling has collapsed, the rear-blind motor needed replacing and the left rear door rattles when shut.
I would also like to know how to take the back leather seats out and put them in again. Does anyone have any ideas?
Does anyone recommend a bit of DIY (Do it yourself) work on the car? Does any body know how to take the door panels to pieces safely or to remove the rear seats? What about the messages that appear on the BC screen? The more I write the more I worry! Has the ceiling Scenario ever happened to anyone before. I would really appreciate any suggestions, info ao replies. Thanks a bunch
Kind Regards,
Bill.
