Recently, my hood release has decided it would like me to run back and forth from the front seat to the front of the car around 12 times before finally opening the hood. This is very taxing on my patience, especially since I have yet to repair a coolant leak and have to add coolant every other day. 95 740il
Cable adjustment? Lubrication? Anyone?...Anyone?

I have the same problem occasionally on my E38. Once you raise the hood you will notice at each corner on the sides of the radiator support close to the fenders there is a black knob with something that look like a screw in the middle of it sticking up. That is a spring that pushes up on the hood when you pull the release inside the car. What you need to do is adjust these knobs by turning them by hand so they are higher. I believe you turn them counter clock wise. On mine I actually turned them almost until they fail out. This will give you a better spring up when you pull the hood release.

Good Luck
