95 740iL - Driveaway lock feature? (archive)

Just purchased a 95 740iL - 55K miles - no owner's manual, of course. Just wondering if there is a way to have the doors lock/unlock automatically when starting/stopping engine, or when car is placed in/out of gear?

Also, I've read on the forum that the gear selector backlighting staying lit long after the car is turned off is normal. Can anyone tell me what kind of "feature" this is?
