I had a leak near my thermostat housing. (I made sure it wasn't just the hose or clamp.) I went and bought a new housing from the dealer. My old thermostat housing was plastic and the thermostat was seperate from the housing. The part the counter guy gave me was one complete part with the thermostat built in to the housing. Also it was metal and had an electrical connector coming out of it. I had no connector on my old housing. I figured they improved the old part and figured it would be cool. I explained to the counter guy that my old housing was plastic. Any way I replaced it a few minutes ago. Everything went ok, the holes matched up fine and it seemed like it would work. BUT, now its leaking worse than before. Before it would only leak after running for a while and even then it would only leak a drop every 10 seconds. Now it leaks almost two drops a second, steady, even with the engine off. I got the bolts pretty tight using just a 1/4'' drive ratchet. (From my experience, I did not want to overtighten anything.) The o-ring was fine and positioned perfectly.(There's no place for it to go anyway) Can anyone plz help me, Ive got to get to work tomorrow. You can even call me collect at 908-756-6996 if you're really sure what the deal is.
