Well "7er" fans, Im afraid I cant totally agree with you. Im only a new E38 7-series owner and I am not totally convinced that the BMW is in fact, "The Ultimate Driving Machine". Before I purchased my 1995 730iA I owned a Mercedes-Benz.
My father told me, and I quote " Irrispective of what's behind the scenes, that star there means a hell of a lot". Now dont try and tell me that my father is a stuck up #%@! just because of that and dont call me a Traitor and all that sort of rubbish just because I own a 7er. As far as Im concerned, everybody on this forum has the right to, and can feel free to have his or her say, without being dumped into the ground for it.
In New-Zealand here, every car comparison between the 00' 7er and the 00' S has ended in the statement that we have all heard, but most of us dont want to, "The New Mercedes-Benz S-Class is most definitely the best car in the world."
Now, I have never driven the new S-class myself but I have driven other Mercedes, and I know that they are beautiful cars to drive and to own,
Although I dont agree with you "MOE" when you say the S-Class rapes the new 7. I wouldn't go that far. Again, I have never driven the new 7er either, and Im sure that BMW have developed many new techniques in their vehicles since 1995.
To put it straight, If I had the chance to own a 750iL or an S600L, Im afraid I'd go back to Mercedes-Benz. In other words, I still prefer Mercedes and I prefer the S-class. To the person who said Mercedes-Benz styling is bland - Check your eyesight. I'd look more intriguingly at a new S than a new 7, I tell you that. I love my 7er but I still think that Mercedes-Benz have made the S-class a no competitor for the 7-series. I thank you for allowing me to have my say,
Kind regards
Charles
