The 7-series BMW is no contest to the new
S-Class. I have driven both, and must say the S simply rapes the 7. In style, comfort, feel, and drive.

I drove both also and now own a 750iL, for the price of a V8 Mercedes I have a V12 BMW. The 750 has all of the features of the S500 plus a fully leather covered dash and interior, even the grab handles are covered in leather. While the the air suspension on the S is remarkable for limiting roll and providing a supple ride it takes out the road feel. I like the thump my 18" tires make over tar strips, it reminds me that I am in the CAR not on the COUCH. A few years ago I would have been a proponent of MB on a quality basis, I'm not sure the rock solid build quality has remained in MBs new line of products. I do know that the paint on my 5 yr old MB Gwagen shames that on our two year old BMW, both in black. Vote with your dollar, I did, and I am convinced that the E38 is a GREAT car. The fact that it compares at all to MBs latest greatest design speaks volumes to the excellence of the current (since '95) 7 series.
