Michelin Pilot SX MXX3 has been discountinued for a while. The replacement is Michelin Pilot Sport.

I believe the issue is, the MXX3's are only produces as a special order, in conjunction with the BMW/Mercades factory needs, and that is when Michelin will release them to retail customers. When the retail stock is depleted the retail availability is not replenished until the next production run.

Now for the 235/45ZR17 MXX3's for the E-34, M5 Michelin may not ever produce any more in that size. It is a wait and see.

I don't care for the Pilot Sport because the side wall is less stiff than the MXX3. Also, the MXX3 and the BMW asymmetric ///M rim bead is a run flat feature that will be lost if a Pilot Sport is used on the ///M rim.

This information regarding the Pilot's appears to be incorrect. BMW NA is putting Pilot Sports on 2001 7 series with the Sports Package w/M rims.
