Turns out that the thermostat connector shorted, burned and took out the fuse, relay, and for some reason the right front low beam. It ended up costing me $249.00 for labor (3 hours) and $125.00 in parts. The computer stored all kinds of fault codes when the electrical system crashed. I'm ready to go back to a stodgy, reliable Lexus LS.... This BMW has cost me dearly in the 5 months I've had it.
My 740i with 59K miles died on the road today. I was traveleing about 35MPH and the Trans.Prog. Fail message came up on the warning display. About 1/4 mile later the car shut down. The engine will turn over but will not start. I had it "flat bedded" over to the local BMW dealer but they may not get to it for a few days. Any ideas on what I'm in for?
Thnx...Bob
