Was origanally intended for the european market due to narrow streets. If someone bumps your mirror, it may appear to be loose, press the fold button and they will pop back into the proper place.

You should be able to find a control switch to swing in the mirrors to fit into a super tight garage space. I wish I had that feature on my 2000, as my garage in pretty narrow. Some high end trucks have this feature as well.
