Anyone know the steps to remove the door handles on an E38.

Rod, I don't have the TIS so I'd like your input on this point. The issue I am trying to deal with is that there is a layer of old wax and polishing compounds (I guess) dried in the gap between the door panel and the body colored trim of the door handle. I'd like to get this trim piece off to clean and polish out the old gunk. Does this require special tools too?
