The 7 series is probably the softest luxury car going. I just spent 2 months trying to sell a 96 il that was immaculate, certified, w/78,000 miles. No takers. Traded it in on a 2001 Ford F-250 Crew Cab 4X4 for my wife, and got a 1999 M3 convert for myself. I wa sonly able to get 21,000 in trade on that thing, and blue book was 24,000. The only large luxury car I would ever own again is a mercedes. Their depreciation is much. much better. 7 is a great car, but they are financial and mechanical liabilities. The M3, on the other hand, has a very strong re-sale.
Good luck, though. Let us know how it goes.
