Any authorized BMW dealer should be able to look up your car's service history, regarding work that was done at a BMW dealership, by looking it up in the BMW NA computer.
As far as the "engine" problem, you will need to verify that the casting number on your engine indicates that it is not a Nikasil engine block. The warranty on the replacement engine should be good for one year from the date of replacement. To be honest, something about the car being a 95 with only 45K miles, yet the engine warranty is almost up sounds a little fishy. Definitely have the block casting numbers checked.
Good luck,

95 740iL, 74K miles
(w/ 1K on new block)
I bought a 95 w 45k from a person, spoke with local dealer who said the "engine" problem was fixed and warranty was up this april? Does this sound right? How can I find out exactly what has been done to this car? I have had a hesitation, feels like I got bad gas, but dealer finds no problem??? Any ideas?
thanks!
