I'm just getting an adjustment on my policy, but I think I'm ending up at around $750/year for full coverage on a 95' 740i. I'm 32, but - I have a squeeky clean driving record. This also includes a multicar and multiline discount, although that makes a rather small difference. Based on what I've seen before, I am not surprised at all to hear your $5000/year bill with 6 surcharge points. There is an almost logarithmic expansion in premiums the more you get caught, unfortunately. I'd definitely check around other companies though, sometimes it varies widely, even if your record isn't clean.Hope that helps.

I was just wondering what everyone else pays for insurance. I was shocked with a $5,000 a year bill for my recently purchased 95 740il. I had to get full coverage since the bank still owns it. I have Allstate, am 26, live in NJ and have six insurance surcharge points.
