I've posted extensively on the E39 board about how much I like my navigation system, and why I think it is well worth the cost. My last car was a '97 528 that was one of the first BMWs in North America with the nav system, so I've had the system for over four years. My current car is a 540i/6 with nav.

Although I really like the system, I'm VERY disappointed with the NavTech data. For their map covering New England, updates are very sluggish, and coverage has not improved at all in 4 years. NavTech claims it's an issue with BMW; BMW points to NavTech as the data supplier.

Is there any interest in forming some kind of group to give collective and constructive customer feedback to both BMW and NavTech? I'd like to see some kind of advisory board speak for a large number of customers and get some attention focused on this long-standing issue.

I am willing to coordinate such an effort. Please email me if you're interested. Thanks.

Check out this link here that utilizes the same information from NavTech. If you find discrepancies in coverage, then your version of software or CD is out of date.
