I received the following email reply from the eBay seller:

"Thank you for your interest and concern,

First, it should be noted that with digital odometers mileage cannot be
tampered with or changed. Second, we have no idea who you got this
information from, but they are TOTALLY incorrect! We confirmed with the BMW
dealership that your "tamper dot" is not a situation which you have eluded
to. Rest assured that if there was mileage tampering involved, it would
certainly be more interesting to go way back of 96,000 miles! We have the
carfax report that documents the mileage as it was recorded from when the
vehilce was sold new. The miles are noted by date and mileage, and show the
progressive accumulation of miles. There is no foul play whatsoever.

Best Regards"

Of course, I never accused them of *intentionally* selling a car that had the mileage rolled back, but the interesting thing here is that they claim they were told by BMW that the tampering dot being lit is of no concern! Do I have the wrong information, or is this guy full of it????

Brett
