bought a demo 2000-titanium-silver. inservice was march/2000-has several scratches on hood , etc that independent bodyshop felt should be fixed by repainting entire hood. i always thought it's best not to paint if possible inorder to keep 'original equipment'' as long as possible. dealer's man wet-sanded,waxed, detailed car and it turned out beautifully -all imperfections gone - dealer claimed that bodyshops make their money by painting and his man fixed problems - do you agree? might these 'problems' reappear as detail-work wears-off? Dealer did agree to paint if we insisted - the independent bodyshop does their severe work and is also used by local mercedes dealer as well as private friends who rave about shop, so it was difficult to turn-down the paint-job that was recommended. (bodyshop reviewed car prior to our purchase). thanks for your opinion.
