The 96 does not have the nikasil block - no worries. On the 95' they are replacing the nikasil block with an alusil block, so they should be worry free as well. Initially I think they replaced the blocks with the same type, before they figured out exactly what the problem was, but now they are all replaced by nikasil.

I heard the 95 7's engine were made out of nickel and silicon and in the US the high sulfur content in our gas it wears out the nickel causing it to lose power and compression.
Now my question is, do the 96 and above have the same problem? or did they start using a new combo to make the engine?
Also for the people that had there 95 7 engines replaced did they replace them with the same nic/sil engine or with a revised one that will not produce the same kinds of failures?
Thanks kindly regards,

henry
