I had an LS400 and now have a 98 740i. The 740i is better in that you can manually start off in 2nd or 3rd gear. For Michigan like me in Massachusetts, you should get 4 snows. This makes the 740i pretty good in the white stuff. You can buy a set of snows on steel wheels for around $600.00. Hope this helps.

I'm considering the purchase of a 740il. I live in Michigan and have driven front wheel drive cars for the last several years (Seville & Aurora). These cars have been great in the snow. I recently tried a Lexus LS400 and it was terrible. Wanted to know what kind of experience you snow belt guys have had. Do you use snow tires?

Thanks
Steve
