I just purchased a 96 740iL in central Illinois and proceeded to drive it 1000 miles back to Boston through not one but two snow storms (over
the New Year's weekend). Before I left I had 4 new Michelin Pilot Alpin snow tires mounted. The car went from being a bit scary (in heavy highway slush) to a freight train on rails. I passed every vehicle you can imagine on the way home, many of them off the road.

Snow tires cost you nothing in the long run (once you buy another set of wheels, and do the changeover yourself) so why not have the best traction in all weather ?

I'm considering the purchase of a 740il. I live in Michigan and have driven front wheel drive cars for the last several years (Seville & Aurora). These cars have been great in the snow. I recently tried a Lexus LS400 and it was terrible. Wanted to know what kind of experience you snow belt guys have had. Do you use snow tires?

Thanks
Steve
