I'm in VA (ALexandria/Tyson's Corner), and dealing with the same snow you are today. I'm having no problems with my 740i 95' - even with worn tires. Same for the snow we had couple weeks ago, no problems. To me it's not worth having winter tires, but it's definitely something to consider depending on your situation and experience. (I grew up in Norway, driving in snow since I was a little pimple-faced brat).

Go for it, your wife will love the car for what it does in good weather :)

HI, I have a m Roadster and I am considering the purchase of a 740i for my wife. We live in Maryland and get some but not alot of snow. For example today we are getting about two inches and my M without snow tires slides all over the road. How does the new 7 series do without snow tires in the winter? My wife keeps a car for along time. She is now driving a 1989 Volvo 740 with over 200,000 miles.
Thanks
Marty S
