You may need to post a picture, I tried to carefully read your posting but got too confused with what rubber bit your talking about, there is alot of rubber around the windscreen.

rodzy - i now realize what the problem is: when the windshield was recently replaced, the installer apparenly did not 'trim' the very top portion to 'bend-in' with the curve of the top of the shield where it meets the body of the car at the seam. i realized why there was overlap of this thin strip as it headed towards the top of the car(windshield) by looking at the black stripping at the back of the car. if you draw the letter "U", i'm talking about the two top portions of the vertical sides. i sorry i confused you and i could really understand why. will call glass place and i'm sure they will rectify this. i guess the guy was in too much of a rush to 'finish-off' this edge.
