Hi... You know something ? At one point in time I doubted that thing MYSELF ! But when I read it in BMW (the mag) I thought so much about this... I hope someone reads this post to correct me if i'm wrong... 'Coz in Road&Track mag Issue 37 of last year (2000) there's a page somewhere near the end that shows the detailed differences b/w all i's and iL's... So I got it stuck in y head...(this 0.9 secs)
However, I REALLY hope some1 here sees this... I, myself, would like to know for sure...

Thx for raising that up ! i appreciate it...

Concerning the Long Chassis, the only remarkable difference you can "feel" while motoring is the 0-60mph launch...these 0.9 secs...now unless you care about extracting every horse out of your e38 i dont think this should be a worry... oh, and 1 more thing... i just discovered recently that if u ever wanna change your rear lights to the bright 2000 model ones, you can only do that on an iL...coz theyre around 2mm wider... (that's a catch)

Apart from that, i think you'll be 1 of the 675,000 98-iL owners who's smile is gonna change for quite sometime... Enjoy !

I don't think the performance difference between a 740i and a 740iL is .9 seconds 0-60. The acceleration between the two should be virtually identical because there is only a 30-40 pound weight difference between the two.
