Thanks to those who kindly responded to my previous questions. I am now officially in love with the 740 and have to have one. I agree that the other competing makes do not deliver the same level of style, comfort and performance.I test drove a 98 il and really liked the extra back seat room. I also tested a 2000 I with the sport package. Wow! My only problem is that my large butt did not fit as comfortably in the sport seat. The ride also seemed more harsh with the sport package.Is it possible to get an il with the steptronic transmission without the sport package? If so, what year was it available? Also,what year are the nav. systems typically found in the cars? Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know if you can get a 740iL with the steptronic without the sport package. As far as I know, you can only get the steptronic with the sport package 740i or 740iL, as well as the 750iL. The nav systems were optional on the 1997 and 1998 models, but they only became standard in 1999(i think). Hope this help, Good Luck.
