Re: TAIL LAMPS ARE EXACTLY SAME SIZE...and... (archive)

Hi Bob... Believe it or not, i started (recently) looking for those posts with "Bob" next to them :) You seem to know a lot about these 7 monsters...
However, after this 'dispute' on the tail lamps... I just confirmed the thing this morning. The thing is this: I live in Lebanon (Middle East). And to my amazing disappointment, I just discovered this morning that there are SO many minor differences between the 740s (mostly) that are exported to my part of the world and those that you can find on the 'bmwusa.com' site !!!
Still, I wasn't convinced about that crap until I saw it myself: If you ever get hold of the BMW PARTS book which any parts&access. store might have...you'll see that the book made for USA, Can,&Europe have minor differences, so minor you won;t usually notice them quickly... Let me pinpoint out those wicked differences that pissed me off: (at least the ones i discovered lately):
1. First you have this 2mm in tail lamps i talked about earlier on.
2. The grill (car nose) thats made in the USA is facing the front in a perpendicular way... What we get here is something like 10 degrees inclination to each side... I hope you get what i mean coz its so hard to describe ! they look more like this: \\\\\\\ /////// what you get is something like this: |||||| |||||| they won't piss a bmw fan off but it still makes a diff. to me ! :)
3. When you open the driver's door, take a look at the inside (where the hinges hold) there is ONE hinge for you guys...here, we got TWO...
There are 2 others but they need so much explaning here... So what I'll do is this: if you're interested i'll send you the complete list by email if u like...
