Thanks for the information. Do you think it's worth searching for a car with the nav. system? I've heard different opinions on this system.

I was ambivalent about the nav system when shopping; the '98 740iL I finally bought had it, but that wasn't a big issue for me. Now, however, after a few months of use, I don't know how I did without it. I'm on the road a bit, and the system is so dead-on precise (at least here in the Boston area), it's scary. It will recalculate a route if you vary from the one proposed, so I am much more likely to make a blind mid-course changes due to traffic, etc. - no matter where I've turned, the system will get me to the destination.
With or without nav, the 740 is an awesome machine. But I've found the GPS system to be quite useful.
