I ran into a huge problem today. I purchased my CPO 1997 M3 Sedan in November 1999. The car ALREADY had several modifications on it. The only reason however I purchased this car was for the 4 doors and the extended warranty. This morning I was forced to make a detour on the highway for some emergency service work . The dealership however informed me that due to the Dinan engine software and the UUC shifter that my ENTIRE warranty had been voided. (The service manager provided me with the print out from BMWNA). WTF now I am stuck with a POS for a car and without the warranty I paid for. I was also told that all CPO cars that had any Dinan products installed before they were certified had the ENTIRE warranty voided. I would suggest however that all owners of cars with Dinan products installed go to the dealership and have a Vehicle history report printed up.
how would an owner detect this "Dinan engine software and the UUC shifter" if a dealer doesnt disclose that it is present on a car? what models/years is this pertaining to? what about 'dealer-disclosure' prior to sale?
