I'm planning to do the job myself, but I just got a call couple days ago the Bilsteins are on backorder from the importer, which means the installation of the springs will be delayed as well. They are talking at least mid February. When they arrive and I get to do the install, I'll take some pics though.

Hey Big-T. Are you doing the upgrade yourself. If so, might you be able to take pictures of the project. I'm interested in doing the same with my E38, especially since I'm so pleased with the outcome of a similar project I performed on my E34. I'd love to have photos I could post on my BimmerNut.com site to share for all. It's good to see these mods begining to show up on the E38's!

Is your car an E38? If so, your choices are somewhat limited, unless you have no restrictions moneywise. Bilstein are among the best shocks out there, but fairly pricey. Boge are stock on the Bimmer, but the quality is considerably lower than Bilstein. For springs the choices are more plentyful. i got the H&R springs because they were inexpensive, havent' put them on yet though, but will soon.

By the way, take the 17' wheels back and get at least 18". I assume you want a visual impact from getting upgraded wheels, and 17" will leave you wanting more. BMW put 18" on from the factory on the Sport model, so the ride can't be that bad. Many on here are going 19 and some 20, and still report decent ride. Just my two cents.

Hello fellow 7-ers.
I just bought a set of 17"Breyton's with Dunlop SP9000 tires.
I'm thinking about lowering the car, clear corners, rears etc .
Anybody has any experience or advice on Bilstein and H&R ?Which one is better ? What is the expected cost of the replacement ?
I was advised not to go with 18" if I planned lowering springs because the ride would have suffered too much.
It would be a good time to change the front struts. Boge, Bilstein, Sachs, Schnitzer, koni ???? Don't know.
Any advice ?
