Just seeking some feedback on this.....

I have had this 1998 model 740iL for just over two years now (wife's car) and have had a few too many problems for me to even consider another one. [I have a 1999 540i which I love - just to show you I'm not a BMW-basher].

In those two years, it has been back at the dealers on average once per month. Electrical problems, various rattles, clunking suspension, complete electrical shut-down, all recurring problems. Most recently, the A/C has started emitting this putrid smell whenever we start up the engine - the dealer has tried to fix it on three different occasions so far....it goes back again next Monday.

Now I've stared to notice different electrical systems shutting down for no obvious reason, and then starting to work again some time later - sometimes after turning the ignition off/on. It's almost like the computer is shutting systems down automatically for maintenance :-)

Well, my wife already hates the car. She was driving it on one occasion when the whole electrical system shut down - on the freeway at about 75, overtaking.....she believes that her life was put at risk by this car.

Also, has anyone else experienced that irritating clicking sound from the seat-belt adjuster in the B-pillars? This will be the third time I've taken it back for them to try to fix that.

I hate BMWs.
BMW's rule.....confused :-)
