Im getting one or another... anybody have any driving impressons thats driven/owned both. Its hard to tell from short drives . Pros - Cons? Thanks----John

I own a 97 740iL and used to have a 95 740i. I have also driven 97 740i's before. In terms of performance, there is virtually no difference. Even though the iL is 5-6 inches longer than the regular 740i, it only weighs 30-40 pounds more. The main thing is if you really need the extra space or not. As you have probably already noticed, the back seat of the 740iL is HUGE. Even the 740i is quite spacious. The two cars drive exactly the same. Parking in tight spaces might be a little trickier in the 740iL unless you get a car with the optional Park Distance Control (PDC). Either way you can't go wrong, they are both great cars.
