I'd take it to the dealer. The computer should adjust the spark advance to compensate for fuel, within reason, to keep from pinging, which is bad, so something may not be working right. It should burn 89 okay.

740iL had about a month. Just started knocking/pinging 2 days ago, but only during acceleration and on startup. Did I get a tank of bad gas maybe? Using 89 octane. Should I go to 92 or 93 octane and see what happens, or take it in for a checkup? Exhaust leak maybe? Suggestions?
