Life of shocks vary a lot, both with use and quality of shocks. I would consider Bilstein HD the next time. They are more expensive than stock, but are slightly firmer and have much longer life.

At what mileage point should shocks need replacing? I'm at 61,500 miles on a 1997 740IL.
What should I buy when the time comes?
Any other words of wisdom would be appreciated.
