Got my answer today from the shop. Catalytic converters falling apart internally. $725 each from the dealer, plus labor - OUCH!. Anybody else had a problem with these?


740iL had about a month. Just started knocking/pinging 2 days ago, but only during acceleration and on startup. Did I get a tank of bad gas maybe? Using 89 octane. Should I go to 92 or 93 octane and see what happens, or take it in for a checkup? Exhaust leak maybe? Suggestions?
