I'm considering the same thing, Cirle BMW advised me to wait in see if they make the CPT8000 available for cars 95-99, not just 00 and up, 8000 gives you more options, and the 7000 may not be supported when 8000 is fully deployed. So, the question is, is it worth having a BMW phone and being able to use the steering wheel control features, with hands free, and possible voice activation, and auto radio muting, or save a couple hundred bucks and get another phone modified to your car. I think for the price we paid for the car BMW should lower the price of the phone. All that said, I'll most likely spring for the 8000 when it's available for the 98's.

If someone knows how to rewire a less exspensive phone into the BMW system, by all means let me know.
