I was considering puting a phone is my '97 740. The dealers informed me that the CPT7000 phone body cost $481. Is this not a Motorola portabable phone that you can buy from AT&T or someone else for a lot less? With the installation kit, and signal amp, the total cost without installation is over $1100. I was just wanting a phone. This is more expensive than aviation electronics and does a lot less.
Yes, as best as I can tell. The information path was long but the BMW service infromation bulletin 84 04 00 tells what you need to know. In order to figure out what phone body you need you can go to web site www.mottcg.com/bmwna. User id bmwna, password digital. This is Motorola's website for phones for BMW's. Type in your zip code and it will give you the phone body you need for your service area with a BMW part number. There is also a installation kit for the 7 series part number 84 11 0 009 068. With all of this information and $1100 plus installation cost you can have a CPT 7000 in your car. But like most of the notes say the CPT 8000 is due out any day and will display on the NAV screen if you have one. I do not. By the way I got the service information bulletin by getting the service manual on CD from Central Letter Shop. 973-808-9595 They handle all of the BMW service manauals and bulletins. It cost $154 for all 7 series models all years. You can find specific information on the CD by typing in your vehicle number. Good information and good pictures. Good luck.
