SUBJECT:
Radio Sporadically Cuts Off


MODEL:
7 Series (E38)


Situation:
Complaints may be encountered in which the radio sporadically loses audio
output. Diagnosis reveals no cause. The loss of audio output may be as brief
as two seconds or as long as several minutes, and can be corrected by cycling
the ignition switch off and then back on.


Cause:
In certain cases, the radio sends a reset message to the MID via the I-Bus,
resulting in a momentary loss of audio output.


Correction:
In the case of customer complaint, replace the radio. The radios presently
in stock have been modified to prevent the transmission of the erroneous reset
message.
