That's the cheapest part of the whole deal and takes only a moment to replace. I bought one recently, maybe $10 or $20 or so.

If you replace the front plastic thingy, that's a bigger deal. The part isn't expensive, but you need to have it painted to match the car.

There is one plastic piece that's a killer. It's the deal that covers the hinge. BMW, bless their hearts, won't sell that part separately. To replace it, you need to get the whole mirror assembly, about $300.

I wiped out all the plastic parts, plus the heated glass. The total parts bill was about $80 plus painting. I fixed the little hinge cover with epoxy rather than paying for a whole assembly.
