Seems the dealers want full retail whenever they tag it w/CPO warranty. I'd like to buy from the BMW dealer, but from what I can tell, these cars have been very reliable.(exception: Nikasil block) I have owned different models of BMW's over the last 11 years but this will be my first V8. If its half as reliable as my 535's and 635's, I'll be extremely satisfied with my decision.
Thanx again,

just go to a BMW dealer and buy a certified pre-owned.that gives you a warranty from BMW up to 100,000 miles from original date of purchase.if that car was a certified pre-owned from the previous owner the certified pre-owned warranty is transferable.i wouldnt buy it unless it was a certified pre-owned because you only have the remainder of the factory warranty.check the vin# with a local dealers service department!!good luck!!

E38 Board;
I am looking at the purchase of a previously owned 740i. Car has approximately 40,000 miles but has no books included with vehicle. This is not a BMW dealer and dealer says that when he bought car from PO they had lost books.
Is there any problem getting this vehicle serviced under the factory warranty with no books??? Where can I get new books (owners manual, service and any other items that came with car- leather case, etc)
A couple of items that currently need repair (minor) button on radio falling off - front cup holder broken. Are these items covered under warranty???
When aftermarket wheels are added to car, does this void any warranty??
Any feedback would be appreciated.
