How to check a '95 for Nikasil vs Alusil Block?? (archive)

Gruppe-
Am looking at a couple of '95 740i's and was wondering before I go out if there is an easy way to tell if the car has a replacement engine or not. Big difference in value there. Aren't ther some markings on the block? Any visible cues from above or below that I can use to tell?
