Cool, I'm not the only one out there. I am planning on building what I would call an M7. It's great to hear that E38's are built with manuals in europe ... that means all the parts and provisions are there to bolt it in. Great!

I have a 95 740i and love the space and size and power but the auto really kills the fun. My 535i was not a small car either but the 5 speed made it FUN to drive. I often said I want make the 7 and 5 into one car, that's when I started thinking 6 speed, and Dinan super charger, sport springs and bilsteins, wheels and tires ... M7!

I don't suffer from the warranty blues because I have none. Also future resale is no problem ... no one wants to buy my car ... perfect car, funky title.

I'm stuck with the old block but have no problems yet at 61K miles. If I do that's when I will do the engine upgrade and if the tranny ever gives me a problem (I change my fluid BTW)... the 6 speed goes in. I think I would look for a crashed 540i 6spd and do a transplant.

No calendar, I'll just make a list and build as things go. I plan on having this car a long time. I had my 535i for 10 years and put 194K miles on it and wanted to keep it but too many cars! Sold it for $9K.

We should keep in touch (email) to tell each other what we've learned about the "M7" project. We could start a side club, ha-ha!

Thanx,
Patrick Zeman
